Thunderstorm Anxiety in Dogs | Steve Dale's Pet World

Bloggers note: One for our pets today.

Some dogs may be better at forecasting the weather than the national weather service. They know a storm is approaching before we do, and they tell us they're not happy about it.
Sometimes it's clear why dogs become fearful of storms. For example, if a lightening strike is nearby or a dog gets caught outside in a loud thunderous storm. For other dogs, it seems on Monday they don't much care about stormy weather, and on Tuesday they're terrified - no one knows what triggered the fear. There may be some breed predisposition, perhaps occurring more often in Herding and Sporting breeds.
