PET Project sends vehicles to Africa

Dale Potter, center, watches as Will Cuva, 11, left, and Michael Sweeney, 20, load Personal Energy Transportation vehicles this morning at the PET Project warehouse at 1908 Heriford Road. A total of 210 PETs will be shipped to Swaziland in Africa. People without lower limbs use the hand-cranked, chain-driven vehicles to get around their villages. PETs are manufactured at 22 U.S. sites, and the Columbia branch has made and shipped 17,000 vehicles to 94 countries.
